What We Do In A Bathroom

The Tile, The Waterproofing And The Floor.

A bathroom renovation is several trades in one room. Bennett & Sons does the tile and hard-surface part of it: showers built from the substrate up, Schluter waterproofing, tiled floors and walls, and heated floors underneath. Plumbing and electrical work are not part of what Bennett & Sons Installations performs.

  • Tiled showers, walls and curbs
  • Schluter waterproofing behind the tile
  • Tiled bathroom floors
  • Heated floors under the tile

Common Questions

Bathroom Renovations Questions

Do you do the plumbing or electrical work?

No. Plumbing and electrical work are not part of what Bennett & Sons Installations performs. The tile, the waterproofing and the flooring are.

Can you tile over the old bathroom tile?

On a floor, sometimes: if the existing tile is sound, firmly bonded and flat, and the extra height works at the door and around the toilet. In a shower, generally not, because the waterproofing has to go behind the new tile, and that means taking the old wall back.

Should I add a heated floor while the bathroom is apart?

If you are considering one, yes. It goes under the tile, so the time to decide is before the floor is rebuilt rather than after.

How long does a bathroom renovation take?

It depends on the size of the room, how much is being rebuilt and the other trades involved. A realistic timeframe can be given once the space and the scope are known.
