Bathroom Renovations In Nanaimo.

A lot of Nanaimo bathrooms are original to houses built from the 1970s through the 1990s: a tub surround, a vinyl floor, and drywall behind the tile that was never really meant to get wet. Redoing one properly means taking it back far enough to build the shower again from the substrate up.

What Changes The Work In Nanaimo

  • Tile set over plain drywall in an older shower usually means water has been getting behind it. The fix is to strip it back, not to tile over it.
  • Schluter waterproofing goes behind the new tile, so the wall stays dry whatever the grout does.
  • A Nanaimo renovation involves other trades. Bennett & Sons do the tile, the waterproofing and the floors; plumbing and electrical are not included.

Common Questions

Nanaimo Questions

Can you tile over my old shower tile?

Generally not in a shower, because the waterproofing has to go behind the new tile. On a dry floor it is sometimes possible, if the old tile is sound and flat.

What part of a Nanaimo bathroom renovation do you do?

The tile and hard-surface side: showers, waterproofing, tiled floors and walls, and heated floors. Plumbing and electrical work are not part of what Bennett & Sons perform.

How far ahead should I get in touch?

As soon as you know what you want done. Send photos and your timing, and David will say what the schedule looks like.
