Kitchen Backsplashes

Backsplash Installation In Port Alberni.

Kitchen backsplashes tiled by David Bennett, with the layout set out first and every cut around outlets, windows and cabinets finished cleanly. Based in Port Alberni and working across Vancouver Island.

The Detail Work Is The Whole Job

A Small Area With A Lot Of Obstacles.

Outlets, window returns, upper-cabinet edges and inside corners are where a tidy backsplash separates itself from a rushed one. The layout decides where the pattern lands before the first tile is set, so the cuts at the ends and around the window look deliberate rather than leftover.

  • Layout set out so the pattern lands where it should
  • Clean cuts around outlets and switches
  • Inside and outside corners finished properly
  • Edges and terminations considered before starting
  • Subway, herringbone and feature patterns

Common Questions

Kitchen Backsplashes Questions

Can a backsplash be tiled over drywall?

Usually, yes. A kitchen backsplash is a dry area, and sound, flat drywall is a normal base for it. Damaged or uneven wall is repaired first.

Can you tile over an existing backsplash?

Sometimes. Tile can go over existing tile if the old tile is sound, firmly bonded and flat, and the extra thickness works at the edges, the outlets and under the cabinets. Often it is cleaner to remove the old backsplash and start from the wall.

What happens around the outlets?

The tile is cut to fit neatly around every outlet and switch. Moving or adding outlets is electrical work, which Bennett & Sons does not perform.

Can I choose and buy my own tile?

Yes. It is worth confirming the specific tile and quantity before ordering, since the size and pattern affect the layout and how many cuts the job produces.
